    EPISODE 1

    - 20 girls have been invited to the semifinals of the casting, but only 10 girls will continue into the final cast.
    - whilst everyone else seems to be looking for some international catwalk supermodels, Anne Kukkohovi is keeping it real and saying she wishes for something different and not be interested just in the "skinniest bitches" in the group (much like Paparazzi's Laila Snellman is. eh hem.) but later she does also say models do need to look good.
    - they are also looking for personalities and girls who really want to make it big.
    - plenty of the girls are 16 to 20 years of age.
    - much like lettusirpa said the girls love to say "like" a lot. (especially Sofia) they are mostly teens so that explains it.

    INTERVIEWS:

    Amanda
    - she is only 173 cm tall, but she has the right attitude towards it and the judges said she has the kind of a body that could look tall in photos.

    Cecilia
    - she says she is going to apply to medical school, but judges of course asked was she ready to push that back along with doing her high school final exams
    - she is also a competive cheerleader which shows in her body.

    Maya
    - they gave her comments about having wider hips (wtf?!!!)

    Sofia
    - she is supposedly 173 cm tall (but let's face it, she looks shorter compared to Amanda really.)
    - she is also perfectionist which causes stress, but she believes it won't have effect on the competition.

    Vera
    - she has two different kind of hobbies: pole dancing and agility
    - 170 cm tall, holy hell. she needs to be acting like she is the tallest girl in the group because of that.

    Eveliina
    - does not walk in heels that much and now she is getting told to wear them at all times (cooking, cleaning, etc.)

    Yilin
    - judges called her a model when she pulled her hair back.
    - Chinese parents.

    Petra
    - send an application to the show because some relative told her to do so

    Nette
    - says she has a positive attitude about herself and this competition because she already knows that from her horseback riding background she is more muscled than the rest.

girls who do not make the cast
    - Ruut got called too big by Laila Snellman and Vesa Pajakylä told she is in a rush to make it because of being 22.
    - Julia had put wrong measurements on her application and is now getting scolded for it.
    - Annika would like to be a Victoria's Secret model in the future.

next up is picking the 10 final girls to the competition.
    - they had few girls who they absolutely loved (Sofia), but then they had 3 girls (Ruut, Petra, Annika) on who they weren't completely sure which one to pick. the judges just had them stand and twirl in front of them to make the final picks.

    - Vera, Eveliina, Maya and Nette got called first and told they made it.
    - next they called some girls who did not make it further.
    - Amanda and Emma were the next girls to make it.
    - three more girls who did not make it (INCLUDING THE TWO TALLEST GIRL IN THE BUNCH. WTF.)
    - Cecilia and Yilin got called up next.
    - there was 5 girls left and only 2 girls would make it - which of course meant Petra and Sofia were the last ones to be picked (this once again meant dropping one of the tallest girls).

the judges have a couple of favorites now:
    - Vesa really loved Petra and he really had to fight with the other judges to get her into the cast.
    - Laila really likes Eveliina, Yilin and Sofia.
    - Jari Leskinen (the Paparazzi booker) called the girls a very great batch and said he is content they'll get their diamond out of them.
    - Anne is also very proud of the girls who got picked and she is certain out of these girls half can get contracts outside Finland too.

    girls move into their house
    - Maya shares a room with the youngest girls in the house (but then again she is only 20 herself so being 3-4 years older is nothing really)
    - they meet with Jenni Dahlman, who gives them a task: they have 5 minutes to get ready and then they have to do polaroid shots. the photos will also be put on the wall of the house and every time a girl goes home, a photo will be taken off.

    EPISODE 2: SNIP IT

sorry for only gif image, no HQ shots of the full bodies so only screencaps available.

What would be the most possible way to start the second episode than telling you got makeovers ahead of you? The girls though had already been pondering together when would the time for these be. Of course they had also been pondering and freaking out about losing all of their hair. Yilin said that once a girl starts freaking out about makeovers, it's like fear mongering amongst the rest of them. When the girls arrived to the hair salon, the first girl to be sat down on the hairdresser's bench was Eveliina who said she's been growing her hair for two years and would not be into having it all cut off. The hair dresser then makes a comment on how he is going to cut 40 cm of her hair off and manages to scare the crap out of her. But of course, this was just a joke to lighten up the mood and make it more relaxed for everyone in the room. In fact the hair dresser was more into cutting out only what was necessary for healthier looking hair, and just bring out the color a little more. Cecilia was the one with the most strongest opinions about her hair, even she only got it cut a little bit, but she kept saying it was rather radical. (reberr comment: Oh honey, at least this ain't ANTM because then there would be a weave on your head right now.)

The day was far from over, as the girls headed down to a studio to get their first test shots done. Girls were excited about this as they had waited for this moment for so long. Eveliina was the first girl to be photographed and she says she listened to the comments from the photographer and Anne. They were also really pleased with her and surprised it was supposedly her first time at actual photo shoot. A couple of other girls (Petra, Amanda) were next to be photographed, and there was nothing particular sticking out other than Anne swooning and thinking what was the purpose of having "model school" when they were already so great. The stylist Vesa was sure that Cecilia's mood at the shoot was affected by the hair cut and how she was not that happy with it. He though wanted to bring out all the best of her since he called her one of his favorites, but he really had to push things out of her. There was another girl who Vesa wanted to stand out of the crowd, and that of course was Emma, whom he thought was so sweet and silent that she needed to be dressed in very badass way. Sofia was kind of freaked out how good everyone had been throughout the photo shoot and she knew she would have to bring it to the max if she wanted to be memorable and show she can do it too.

What does a model desperately need to have? Apparently nude underwear as the girls were taken out to shop for specifically these things the next day. But this was done also because they had a go-see to attend right of the bat, and in fact they also had to go in the go-see in their underwear. They got told that whoever wins the go-see challenge would also be immune from getting eliminated on the first week. The client was Teri Niitti, whom you all should know as Finland's Next Top Model's stylist and a judge. He wanted the girls to have this very feminine walk where they can swing their hips a little more than they usually would. He also wanted the girls to think their bodies as an entity which would mean the walk should become more naturally, and not forced or stiff.
Winner of the challenge is................. SOFIA

All of the girls were certain they themselves would be the one getting eliminated this week. (reberr comment: just like I learned in school the other week, there are the 4D's to make anything happen: dedication, discipline, determination and desire; clearly these girls are lacking these aspects with such comments.) Even Sofia said all of the girls seem to be really negative about the upcoming elimination, and if she was in the situation herself she would keep a positive image. Only Amanda was certain she won't go home at the elimination. Girls were getting evaluated one by one, and all of them had to wear the same model sized outfit for the evaluation period.

Nette: Fitted the dress perfectly - Her face shot was really editorial - Full body was also overall great - Has good eye contact to camera and great attitude
Sofia: Lovely looking photos - May be having a bit too much of "pre-learned moves" for the photos - Was not exactly memorable
Vera: Was too tiny for the dress - Has a sparkle in her eyes - Need to be compensating shortness through angles
Amanda: Anne said she was astonishing at the photo shoot - Judges were just mostly impressed with her
Yilin: Has incredible legs - They also think she is super cute
Eveliina: Has all the physical elements of a model - But bit lifeless - Needs more spirit from inside - Follow more instructions
Emma: One face in most photos - Needs more variation - Body works but face doesn't
Petra: Positive surprise for the judges - Was a bit of a question mark earlier - Follows instruction well
Cecilia: Athletic body doesn't exactly fit in the dress - Slight bit of a stiff feeling in the photos - Lack of usable frames
Maya: Natural contact to camera - Nice posing - Good instruction taker - May be headed for some hair drama (she thought it was shorter on the other side)

So, who is the first one to go home?

Girls still in the competition: Sofia (immunity), Amanda, Maya, Yilin, Nette, Vera and Petra
Bottom 3: Eveliina, Cecilia and Emma
    Saved:
    Eveliina & Cecilia
    Eliminated: E M M A

ps. next week's recap coming day Monday 13th, vacationing during weekend.

    EPISODE 3:

So in the previous episode Emma was eliminated, and this had made feel the girls a little weird when coming back to the house. They said they kept feeling like someone is missing and then remembered right this is still a competition. Girls got to go to some hot yoga classes, which apparently is real good for models. Some of them have done yoga before, but some were doing it for the first time ever. This was basically done to introduce the girls to some exercise that they can easily do at home and something that will be good for them, as you all know the judges want them to be fitting for international modelling too.

The girls returned to their house to get some tips on how to do their makeup. They had a 15-minute challenge to do makeup that they would do for some client meetings or castings. Petra managed to say this was no challenge because doing some basic natural makeup is fast and easy to do, so instead they should have had less time to do it. The make-up artist was really impressed with all of them and how none of them had gone for "evening makeup". I have no idea why, but they got told to wash everything off and after getting some personal instructions they were doing their makeup again. The makeup artist also rewarded Maya as the "most improved one" on the two little challenges.

The girls have very different opinions on how to be in this competition. Yilin said she takes it day by day, Amanda tells she got a hard competitor rising in her, Sofia wants to practice taking photos before hand, Maya would be happy with top 3 or actually also being the winner.

It's photo shoot time! They have an editorial shot to be done with floor length dresses and they'd be sporting some watches as well. There was also going to be a client the magazine called Trendi watching over their photo shoot. Maya got greeted by the hair dresser when she went to get her makeup and they told her that they would be cutting her hair more. As in the previous episode she pointed out that her hair was shorter on the other side than the other, so they kind of took that as her complaining about her hair and therefor wanted to make some bigger chance into her appearance. She wasn't even nervous about the change but more excited to see the outcome, which probably was more surprising to the hair dressing and the judges. So, the client told them what they are usually looking in the editorial shots and they also told that they would be releasing the best photo in their magazine. The girls got really excited about this, but then Yilin said she is sure her photo isn't going to be picked because there are not a lot of Asians in the magazines.

Cecilia had the same issues as last week. She had even had extensions but in and everyone said she was an absolute stunner in person, but it was not coming through camera at all. Amanda had to take her underpants off because the dress was so sheer, but she was not too bothered by it. "This is what you gotta do when you're going to model." (reberr comment: such a great attitude!) The photographer called her the "mall girl", but was surprised how much she changes in front of the camera. Yilin is also yes/no kind of a girl, you either like her or not. But the photographer did actually like her a lot. Amanda and Nette also have some intriguing eye contact to the camera according to the Trendi editor, who told if people are just glaring through the magazine at a store, there should be that one photo that stops them and according to her Nette and Amanda's would be ones now. Maya would have wanted bit more time to get some more facial expressions done during the shoot. Eveliina got told to pay attention to her eyes because she can end up looking real cold, but she also felt like she wasn't given enough space to move more with the photographer's and Anne's instructions being so specific.

Judging panel this time also includes the Paparazzi's manager Laila Snellman, the editor from Trendi magazine and their photographer.
Amanda: They told her photo could easily be in several different magazines. She told she had not packed her stuff in full, as she was confident enough she'll stay.
Cecilia: Had not much shots to choose from in the end. It's like middle road to go on. She also said herself she felt a little stiff.Sofia: When asked did she like her own photo she just went "not really". It was because she thought it was funny looking as it brought out all of the structures of her face that she considers ugly. But she then got told those were the things that made her a model.
Petra: Her shot was something they could put as the first image in a magazine (reberr comment: the photo was freaking stunning!)
Vera: She had some dead eyes in her photo, but she can get more power in her. She also looks like a 12-year-old in real life when she smiles according to Anne.
Yilin: The photo was photographer's favorite of the day. Laila also liked her body in the shot.
Eveliina: Got called a pageant shot more than editorial. Needs a bit of a wild side to bring to next photo shoots.
Nette: Whilst most of the girls just played with their hands, she knew how to work her full body for the shot.
Maya: They called her new do the "Koponen". Anne told the biggest problem right now with her is not how she looks in photos, but it's more that she has this worried attitude, and be more confident.

During discussions they also said "looks like Suvi Koponen's little sister" and despite they showed Maya's photo during this comment, I'm thinking it was more about Eveliina or so. Or well, that's just my opinion, because Maya doesn't look anything like her.

Nette, Maya and Amanda were the best girls in the photo shoot. And with the whole judging panel's agreement, Maya's photo was the one that was the best of all. So that one is getting released in the magazine, as it was a shot that grabs attention and it has its own emotional feel to it, which gets people thinking I want that dress or I want to be that girl.

    Girls still in the competition:
Nette, Maya, Amanda, Petra, Yilin & Sofia
    Bottom 3:
    Vera, Cecilia, Eveliina
    Eliminated: Cecilia

EPISODE 4: NOT SO MUCH WALKING

First note, this episode wouldn't work on Chrome and once I get it on, it jumped straight to walking practice. So, therefore, I do not have any clue did I miss anything important in the beginning of this episode. Probably not. But my apologies, blame Katsomo's video extension.

Niina Backman came to teach the girls how to walk. She is a former model and also a TV host here in Finland (because clearly we can't get anyone else on the show). Nette was excited about the practice as they have only exercised at home with the girls, so finally they are getting some advice to come along. Maya got told to pay attention to her pace in walking as well as her swinging arms. Petra also has a real nice walk imo, and she also got that wind in the hair (YEAAAAHHH!). Also one arm on the hip is called the pageant queen pose, so don't think of doing that girls. Amanda's walk did not get any negative or feedback to fix it as it apparently was perfect and apparently all girls need to learn from her (bring Miss J to disagree). Biggest problem walker was Eveliina of course, so she got most advice on how to improve. She also says she has feet that turn inwards, so that's something that affects her walk. Laila Snellman then suddenly popped by the practice to see the girls walk too. She also measured the girls again to see had they improved from the first measurements done.

Girls had a fitting to be done at Katri Niskanen's boutique. She picked Amanda to wear a little harder dress due to the fact she was the best walker in the bunch. All the rest of the girls were also very pleased that "best of the bunch" gets more of a challenge, so that equalizes them for the runway. And the dress was just pretty much a long black skirt along with massive jewelry as top. Yilin got picked to wear a yellow long dress and she just commented to the designer that she doesn't own anything yellow back home, and somehow Jenni Dahlman took it as her negatively commenting the designer. So she started kinda lecturing Yilin for it by just telling everyone else "don't ever say I don't like this dress" (which is not what Yilin even said). Girls then went back to the house to practice walking more and they had Amanda do the coaching for this.

Then the surprise comes in! They are not doing a runway show, but instead they are going to be at the Finnish movie gala as award girls (seriously...). The girls though did not see is as a bad thing, but rather something that will bring fuel to the fire. Even Anne says this may be a simple thing to do, but they need to be on top and not mess up, because it's a live show. It also brings out who are the most natural and who are not. Yilin was playing around with Eveliina a little bit and got then told this is a job where the need to act proper. But apparently Amanda may have had some acting up issues too, despite they didn't show this. They practiced through the live show, Yilin and Vera had some issues with their dresses because they both had train in them, and Vera's dress was also too big for her.

    Judging panel
Nette: Her presence was great at the gala. Really elegant too. Professional.
Eveliina: Calm. Improved in walking. Needs some edge. Apparently also has the kind of an attitude which makes her not do anything to improve herself (reallyyyyyy?).
Amanda: Not tall enough for catwalks. So to do anything she needs her face to look superb.
Maya: Has a good sense of understanding a situation. Like there was some move at the gala by the presenter and she handled it well. Katri Niskanen would totally recommend her.
Petra: Had a little sporty walk, but it was good. Needs to show herself a little more.
Yilin: Seems to have a lack of fire and lazy. Little mistake turns into a disappointment on her face. Needs to wake up.
Sofia: Little lack of being able to concentrate. Rhythm for walk needed.
Vera: Looked like she was about to faint. She is so tiny, so that brings more things for designer to do when fitting an outfit on her, and maybe on the same time losing the "perfection" of the outfit by having to alter it. This was not due lack of height, but that her overall body type is very small in measurements.

Girls still in the competition: Maya, Nette, Amanda, Eveliina, Yilin
Bottom 3: Vera, Petra (whyyyy), Sofia
    Eliminated: Vera

    EPISODE 5: CAMERA ROLL

Before we get to the actual recap I want to throw in a couple of this. First, once I started looking at this episode katsomo.fi decides to throw one of the girl's Tresemme commercial not once BUT TWICE on my face, so I can only have one assumption on who has been top girl this week (AGAIN). Second, if you don't want to see snippets from upcoming episodes and get spoiled on the same time, I highly recommend you to keep your eyes closed until the intro music begings, because there are runways and only certain girls at panel images. (Nice editing guys!)

Okay, so let's get down to the actual episode then. And guess who we get out there straight up, everyone's favorite tough Finnish model, Saimi Hoyer. She was asking for what is extraordinary thing about them and what will make them interesting for their future modelling careers. She was also giving them inspiration on being who they are and showing off their personalities. She was also telling her own story so they know not to get frustrated if something isn't happening out there, so as long as one other person has faith in them, then it's only a matter of time something big happens.

They then had a little challenge where they were supposed to show off themselves by dressing up and putting on some makeup in 15 minutes. This was to see would they look memorable enough for a casting. They also had to talk to a camera for 20 seconds about themselves. Mostly girls got good feedback, but there was also bad comments on Sofia's party dressing style, and how she kinda went through the thing too fast. Maya and Eveliina were a little too nervous even though the most important things got pointed out. And as usual, Nette won this challenge, because she had listened to what Saimi had been talking to them all day. This also meant she gets her lines the night before and the rest of the girls have to practice them in the morning.

Eveliina got send to a orthopedics for her troubles on walking. Supposedly she has some stiffness in her muscles, which causes her to have her feet turn inwards. So now she will start working on these things to improve her walk fully.

Funny thing the line they had to memorize was just real cheesy and information of the product, so I don't understand what's the big fuss. Petra was the first one to go through, and because she has that funny "monotonic" voice she realized she needs to practice a little more on more "advertising" voice. Yilin forgot her lines a little bit and was rushing through her lines. Amanda was not as great as usual, and I assume this is because she spoke with pausing after every word which sounded so weird. Nette obviously knew her lines exactly, but the thing was she basically just read through them and didn't act the way. Maya had trouble with adjusting to staring at the camera whilst trying to remember the line. Eveliina was apparently finally having a great attitude according to Vesa which means she went through the filming like a pro. Sofia was asking a lot on how is she supposed to get her lines out and she needs to learn to be a little steady.

Panel consisted of Anne, Vesa, booker from Paparazzi and Tresemme representative.
Maya: it was not very selling, she is real pretty in it, but it lacks some personality and needs to relax more. the client though liked her and told she looks exactly like the girl they want for their ads.
Petra: looks pretty and the director loved her (I don't know why, the ad was a little boring).
Yilin: she herself and Vesa think it did not go down so well, needs more focus on this competition, lines went through so fast because it seems like she just wants out.
Amanda: needs more excitement as now she stared at the camera kind of empty, Vesa said she may be too comfortable and doesn't feel like she needs to push herself anymore. they also mentioned that her "high attitude" may also end up going against her as she seems to lift herself above the other girls.
Nette: she even knows herself there would need to be more excitement in her acting, but it still gives good relatable feeling.
Eveliina: apparently a little porno and too flirty, which makes it for a different audience that was aimed, but they are happy she is showing herself off now.
Sofia: when asked she herself said she sways a lot and it seems awkward, needs more stability, as well as it needs to be more relaxed to get it more natural.

Maya and Nette were the client's favorites and they told they'd like to continue to work with them.

Girls still in the competition: Maya, Nette, Petra, Eveliina and Amanda
    Bottom 2: Yilin and Sofia
    Eliminated: Sofia

    EPISODE 6:

Sofia had just been sent home, but the girls still had to sit with Jenni Dahlman (who is so god damn unenthusiastic and so lame that I'd like to get rid of her right now). I mean, when that lady speaks it's just like "girls, this is not over" with a monotonic voice and all. Ugh. Sorry, moving on... They met stylist Teri Niitti upstairs who told he had a job for them. This meant they'd be having a Luhta runway show in Lahti. They also had to practice walking with him for the show. At least good for them they didn't have to walk with heels. Teri chose Eveliina as the opener of the show as she looked most like Luhta girl and she was walking better than before. Next up was girls having to go for a tanning salon because it's the summer line they're showing.

They went to Luhta headquarters in Lahti to meet with Jenni and Luhta representative. There was also real professional models from Paparazzi working at the show, because there was no way 6 girls would do it on their own. All girls had two outfits to show. Sport collection also means bit more energetic and positive attitude for the show.

Eveliina said she got so nervous right before starting the show that she didn't pay attention to how she was walking. The judges even said it seemed real stiff. Nette thought because the walk was so fast there was no way of telling did she do great. Maya made the tiny mistake of glancing at the judges by the side of the runway even she was supposed to look straight forward. Teri said Petra is basically living on the 90%, that she is good, but not the most excellent one. Yilin made a big mistake of not walking all the way to the end, as they were supposed to walk down a step, but she did not do it on either one of the times. Anne and Vesa weren't exactly impressed with the girls, and they made it clear right after the show for them and told them to go home to wait for the elimination. (To be fair though, the runway was short as heck so there is not much time to strut their stuff or anything.)

I will never understand why the hell do the girls walk to the waiting room with handbags. Everything happens in the damn house just around the corner from their room, so what do you actually need a handbag for?!

Eveliina: Nervous, but what can you expect from a first timer. Did not exactly go right in the middle of the stage. She had her hands pulled into fists and this was real distracting. After turn it was like she gave up on walking entirely. The clothes looked good on her though.
Amanda: Needs to be real great if she wants to do runway shows. Got told she was the best in entire show. Clothes didn't look as good because she was shorter than the rest.
Petra: Went on a bit too fast. Also did this funny little pose by just waving her head to the side. And kind of like she bumps into something in the air when she stops. Improves every week though.
Nette: Was looking down a little too long. Creates a good feeling and has the great attitude on everything. Personal looking and has confidence that makes people think good of her.
Yilin: Worst model of the runway. It's because of the mistake of not walking all the way to the end. More concentration. Thinks last week's critique made it sound like this was her last chance and well, clearly with more mistakes it is last chance.
Maya: Can't look into the audience. Bit more elegance into the walk even if the show has relaxed and energetic atmosphere. Apparently also is a bit of a robot who needs to open up and let herself go.

Amanda wins the challenge. Obviously. Anne gave her a mission to teach the other girls to walk and that she should then tell which one of the girls has trained enough to improve.

Girls still in the running: Amanda, Maya, Eveliina and Nette
    Bottom 2: Petra & Yilin
    Eliminated: Yilin

Couldn't agree more about Jenni Dahlman. She has/had a little bit of celebrity value here, I guess, due to her being Kimi Räikkönen's ex girlfriend/wife, but she doesn't bring anything of value to this show. Only times we see and hear her is 1) when they film her waking up the girls in the morning, 2) telling them that it will be an elimination tonight, 3) telling them what the schedule of the day will be, and 4) hugging the eliminated girl byebyes. That's ALL. She hasn't provided any know-how, critical input, coaching or anything else valuable at all...
