The Real Housewives of Orange County (Bravo)

The Real Housewives of Orange County
    Premieres Tuesday, March 21 @ 10/9c

First there was "Peyton Place"...then "Dallas"... and now "Desperate Housewives." America loves those deliciously soapy looks behind the curtains of seemingly perfect worlds. This spring, Bravo will premiere "The Real Housewives of Orange County," a new one-hour docu-series which provides exclusive access to five families who live in one of the wealthiest planned communities in the country. The seven-episode series focuses on five real-life housewives living in a protected Southern California enclave, exposing the excitement, extravagance and everyday drama that exists in their unscripted and unrehearsed lives.

"The Real Housewives of Orange County" will follow five sophisticated women and their families who lead glamorous lives in a picturesque Southern California gated community where the average home has a $1.6 million price tag and residents include CEOs and retired professional athletes. Orange County "housewives" Kimberly, Jeana, Vicki, Lauri and Jo are used to the good life and will do everything they can to hang on to it. The women each have their own personal story to share, and they've granted Bravo an all-access pass into their lives, families, friendships, careers, and homes. From diamond parties to Botox sessions to the stress of having a high-powered career, the women take viewers along for the ride and into their real-life dramas that show how life isn't always perfect behind the gates. Just what lies beneath the surface of this "perfect" community?

The women mostly live the good life, but also represent the modern-day version of the "happy housewife," which today includes juggling the challenges of a stressful career with a busy family life. These women are sexy, sophisticated, and know how to turn heads, set trends, and keep up appearances in one of the most stylish communities in the country.

Kimberly Bryant is 40-something and has two kids with executive husband Scott. She's the classic 'Trophy Wife,' thanks to her plastic surgeon and husband's money, but also incredibly articulate and hard-working.

Jeana Keough is a former Playboy Playmate and actress who is now a 40-something wife of former major league baseball star, Matt Keough. A 19-year resident of her gated community and mother of three teenagers, Jeana also sells real estate "for fun" and the insider gossip.

Vicki Gunvalson is a successful, self-made, 40-something woman to be reckoned with. She's a lucrative insurance broker, devout Christian, and is married for the second time. She also has two teenagers and is feeling the affects of the looming empty-nest ahead as her youngest gets ready to leave for college.

Lauri Waring is 40-something and works as an insurance broker for Vicki Gunvalson. Recently divorced and forced to downsize her lifestyle, Lauri is a single mom with three kids (one just released from juvenile hall), struggling to regain her status in the community.

Jo De La Rosa is the 20-something "newbie" to the community, recently engaged to one of the divorced dads in the community, Slade Smiley. Confident and sexy, Jo is trying to figure out her place in this strange new world.

OK, I have to post something about this show. I have been watching it and actually it's ok, it's giving me an idea of how some people with lots of money are.

But, this weeks episode brought me right back here to this site and one of our most beloved members. There was a lady who owns a horse and they showed her riding her horse.

The horse's legs were wrapped with "Pink" leg wrappings. Then they showed a close up of the horses hooves. She had them painted with "Glitter"!!

Now, you tell me who's horse that really should belong to??? lol!!

When I saw that I almost fell out of the chair. What a perfect horse for our Glitterx!

Maybe this lady is a long-lost relative of Glitter's! I know for sure, Glitter would love to have a horse dressed up just like that. If any of you can, try to catch a repeat of that show, you will think of nothing but our Glitterx when you see the way that horse is made up. I loved it!!

Also, I know now that Glitterx isn't the only person who loves Glitter and Pink!!

Glitterx, if you get a horse, I know how that horse will look and it will look Beautiful!!

The Real Housewives Of Orange County Renewed For Second Season
    July 14, 2006
    by Joe Reality

Bravo has renewed its docu-soap series "The Real Housewives of Orange County" for a second season, it was announced today by Frances Berwick, Executive Vice President of Programming and Production for Bravo, during the network's session at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Pasadena, CA. Bravo has tapped Evolution Film & Tape Inc. ("Fear Factor," "Big Brother") to produce the second season, with series creator Scott Dunlop also returning as executive producer. The second season will feature original cast members, along with new personalities that will be introduced. The new season is scheduled to begin production in Orange County, CA on eight episodes later this summer, with series debut set for late 2006 on Bravo.

"'The Real Housewives of Orange County' debuted as a unique concept for television with its provocative exploration of the daily ups and downs of a group of sophisticated and complicated real-life women," said Lauren Zalaznick, President, Bravo. "It's a perfect series for Bravo that connects viewers with unique characters, and creates ongoing buzz."

"The new season will pick up from where the last season left off, but with new dramas, new relationships and new characters," said Berwick. "Viewers can continue to follow the complicated lives of each of these ladies, and experience their emotional highs and lows."

The premiere season of "The Real Housewives of Orange County" sparked heated viewer and critical buzz, with the Los Angeles Times saying the show "crystallized Orange County's identity as home of the nouveau riche" and the New York Times describing it as "educational" and "fascinating." Tom Shales of the Washington Post observed that the show offered "insight into contemporary values" and "modern American materialism," and the New York Post called it "fascinating television." The Hollywood Reporter said the series played "more like a documentary than a…voyeuristic reality show" and delved "into such meaty subjects as choosing a housewife's life over a career, looming empty nests, midlife crisis, teenage drug and alcohol experimentation, teaching kids the value of money, the first tastes of adulthood, being that suddenly single mom and simply fitting in."

The first season of "The Real Housewives of Orange County" averaged a 0.7 HH coverage rating, 646,000 total viewers, 503,000 viewers 18-49 and 440,000 viewers 25-54. The series increased Bravo's average in the time period (Tuesdays at 10:00 p.m.) by 19% in total viewers, 47% in 18-49 viewers and 26% in 25-54 viewers year-to-year. The program built on average by 39% on its 18-49 lead-in and by 42% among women in the demographic. The series also ranked as the youngest program on Bravo during its run with a median age of 34.4 and as one of the most upscale shows on cable's most upscale network.

Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Orange County" follows a group of sophisticated women and their families who lead glamorous lives in a picturesque Southern California gated community in Orange County. The Orange County "housewives" are used to the good life and will do everything they can to hang on to it. They each have their own personal story to share, from surviving an ugly divorce to choosing a career over a life of leisure, and they've granted Bravo an all-access pass into their lives, families, friendships, careers, and homes. The women take viewers along for the ride and into their real-life dramas that show how life isn't always perfect behind the gates.

Eight second season episodes of "The Real Housewives of Orange County" will be produced by Evolution Film & Tape Inc., with partner's Douglas Ross, Gregory Steward, Kathleen French and Dean Minerd serving as executive producers. Series creator Scott Dunlop also returns for the second season as executive producer.

    A second season????? YYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!

I loved the first season! The stuff with Jo and Lauri was SO juicy!

Did anyone think it was weird that Kim was battling skin cancer, yet her 13 yr old daughter was SO dark from being in the sun all the time? Wouldn't you want to protect your child from that?

    Werd!

I loved the episode where they had the slumber party at the hotel. They were SO freaked out because they got caught making prank calls. Heh, reminded me of me at that age.
